Remote and Heli-Portable

Mud Bay has developed custom equipment for heli-portable or remote access site investigations with mobilization restrictions. We can provide equipment packages for accessing any site, anywhere.

Key Features

  • The Heli-Sonic drill rig and Ramset can be deployed independently or together, depending on scope of work requirements
  • Heaviest component fly weight is less than 1,500 lbs (680 kg)
  • Complete hydraulic quick connect design for easy assembly and disassembly
  • Ramset can be mounted to Heli-Sonic rig for full production CPTu capability
  • Heli-Sonic assembles on skid frame with a small footprint, capable of being setup on a range of platforms including timber constructed drill pads, small barges or other custom carriers

Limited Access Operations

Key Features

  • Can operate in underground parkades, basements, tunnels or excavations
  • Minimal operations footprint required
  • Rubber track mounted drill (M1.3T) can fit within doorway or opening 3 feet wide
  • Auger and air rotary drilling capabilities
  • Can perform SPT, Vane Shear Testing, Shelby tube sampling
  • Ramset can be mounted to: concrete slab, ice, skid-steer, barge deck, any Mud Bay drill rig or any heavy piece of on-site equipment (i.e. dozer or excavator)
  • Ramset can deploy CPTu with up to 20 tons of thrust, with full 1 meter stroke
  • Cantilever platforms allow Full Size Sonic drill rigs to setup over slopes, bulkheads, sheet pile walls or pier structures.

Over Water

Mud Bay has years of experience working on challenging over water projects, from inland lakes and lagoons to coastal tidal environments. If your site investigation requires over water drilling, we have the resources and know-how to take on any scope of work.

  • Custom telescoping conductor casing system (for deeper water tidal sites)
  • Under water seismic source generator for Downhole Seismic and SCPTu
  • We also work with trusted marine subcontractors for the supply of barges, tugs, pile-supported platforms and various other support boats and vessels as required
